Botdog vs SalesRobot: is SalesRobot safe to use in 2026?

Comparing Botdog and SalesRobot for LinkedIn automation in 2026. SalesRobot has impressive AI features and supports LinkedIn + email, but documented reliability issues, safety concerns, and an AppSumo controversy raise real questions. Honest breakdown across safety, pricing, AI features, and real-world performance.

Botdog vs SalesRobot: is SalesRobot safe to use in 2026?

If you're researching LinkedIn automation tools, you might have come across SalesRobot, which is a cloud-based multichannel LinkedIn + Email automation tool. On the surface, SalesRobot looks like a very solid option with incredibly innovative AI features. However, once you dig into the reviews, some question marks over pricing and safety might start to appear. For example, SalesRobot gives users the ability to leave AI-generated comments on prospects' posts, which is an easy way to get your LinkedIn account flagged and reviewed under a microscope. The company also faced some controversy in 2025 when users who purchased a lifetime deal via AppSumo were unable to gain access to the latest version of the product without paying for an upgrade.

Botdog, on the other hand, offers simple, safe LinkedIn automation built specifically for sales teams, founders, and recruiters who want to scale their outreach and grow their pipelines without worrying about their account getting flagged, restricted, or banned. We offer unlimited campaigns, unlimited quotas (in line with LinkedIn's limits), team management capabilities, automated voice messages, and comprehensive safety features on all plans. Oh, and our most expensive tier (Professional + AI) is $360/year cheaper than SalesRobot's comparable plan.

In this blog post, we’ll break down exactly how SalesRobot and Botdog compare so you can make an informed decision about which tool is the best fit for your use case.

Botdog is a cloud-native LinkedIn automation tool built for simplicity

Botdog is a cloud-based LinkedIn automation platform built around a simple philosophy that LinkedIn outreach should be fast, safe, and easy. Most of our users set up their first campaign in under 5 minutes, we have a <0.1% detection rate (and offer a money-back guarantee if your LinkedIn account takes a hit), and our interface is incredibly user-friendly.

Unlike tools that try to do everything, Botdog focuses exclusively on LinkedIn automation. For salespeople looking to run integrated LinkedIn + Email campaigns, that's a drawback. But for salespeople prioritizing LinkedIn or using a separate email outreach tool, it's a huge advantage. Thanks to our narrow focus, we can keep our pricing low and our product simple (but powerful, of course).

Botdog campaigns run in the cloud, so your computer doesn't need to stay on for requests and messages to be sent, and whether you're a Starter, Pro, or Pro+AI customer, everyone gets access to our full set of safety features. Plus, if you're part of a sales team, you get access to a shared inbox and multi-account management/collaboration features with no specific upgrade required.

SalesRobot is a cloud-based LinkedIn & Email automation tool

SalesRobot is almost like a virtual SDR that runs multichannel prospecting on your behalf. Its AI Appointment Setter can even nurture leads for you! Like Botdog, it includes AI-powered personalization, voice note features to help salespeople stand out in prospects' inboxes, and a whole host of safety features to keep your account secure. On paper, it's a feature-rich tool, but a few challenges start to arise when you look at reliability, pricing transparency, and how SalesRobot has treated its customers over time. We'll dive into some of these issues in more detail throughout this blog post.

Botdog vs SalesRobot: campaign builder

SalesRobot supports multi-step LinkedIn and Email sequences that combine actions like connection requests, messages, emails, likes, comments, and follow-ups, with conditional logic based on whether a prospect accepts your connection request. It also includes a mini-CRM for managing ongoing conversations, AI-generated personalization snippets, and a voice/video note feature that lets you send short recorded messages to prospects. One thing to note is that SalesRobot also offers the ability to leave AI-generated comments on prospects' posts as part of your outreach. While this could seem like a good strategy on paper, LinkedIn's algorithm is very good at detecting AI-generated comments, so SalesRobot users might get flagged as suspicious and have their accounts reviewed by LinkedIn.

Screenshot 2026-03-10 at 15.08.50.png
Relying on SalesRobot to automatically leave comments on a prospect's post is a dangerous game. AI is notoriously bad at writing comments, and LinkedIn is notoriously good at detecting them and flagging them for review. If you're using LinkedIn automation and want to avoid a suspension or ban, you might want to avoid actions that put your profile under a microscope.

Botdog strips its campaign builder down to what actually matters for most LinkedIn outreach: connection requests, follow-up messages, and InMails for prospects who don't accept connections. You can also add steps to like or react to your prospects' most recent LinkedIn post or send them a voice message if you really want to stand out. If you're importing prospects from a list of post likers or commenters, you can also check that they're in your ICP before wasting a connection request or message on them. Botdog's AI Review feature (available on the Pro + AI tier) automatically compares each prospect to your criteria and filters them out of the campaign if necessary.

Botdog vs SalesRobot: safety

SalesRobot has comprehensive safety features, including a dedicated, local IP rotation and human-like behavior simulation. Plus, it's cloud-based for maximum protection. It's worth noting, though, that SalesRobot's anti-duplication and activity control features are only available for Professional users, so Basic and Advanced users miss out on this layer. Also, in their FAQ, SalesRobot reminds users that the tool works smoothly with free LinkedIn accounts, which is quite a risky recommendation. In our experience at Botdog, we've noticed that LinkedIn is much more lenient towards Premium, Sales Navigator, and Recruiter customers, so they'll give paid users a warning before restricting or banning them. Free users, on the other hand, often lose access to their accounts unexpectedly. That's why, even though Botdog technically works with a free LinkedIn account, we always advise customers to become a paid LinkedIn user before using any automation tool.

Screenshot 2026-03-10 at 15.37.47.png
In SalesRobot's FAQ, they remind users that their tool works smoothly with a free LinkedIn account, without any warning of the risks involved. At Botdog, we explicitly remind users that automating on a free LinkedIn account is very risky and will likely end with your account being restricted or banned.

Botdog treats safety as a core feature, so every plan includes human-like delays with randomization, account-specific daily caps, and randomized activity patterns that mimic real human behavior. Our safety features are second-to-none, so we always respect LinkedIn's limits and remind customers that automation is safest with a Premium, Sales Navigator, or Recruiter account (not a free LinkedIn account). When you sign up, Botdog automatically sets limits based on your account type, so you don't need to configure anything from scratch. Most users never touch their safety settings and let Botdog handle their limits, but if you do want to fine-tune things, there's a configurable sliding scale or three preset profiles based on how conservative or aggressive you want to be. Please note that even if you choose "risky", LinkedIn's limits will still be respected.

So far, Botdog users have a <0.1% detection rate, and we have so much faith in our safety features that we offer a full refund if customers lose access to their LinkedIn account as a result of their Botdog activity (in line with these T&Cs). This gives our users peace of mind but also ensures that we hear about every restriction (no matter how rare) so that we can continuously improve our safety features and make them as bulletproof as possible.

Botdog automatically sets limits based on your account type, but if you want to be more conservative/aggressive, you can adjust the limits on a sliding scale or choose from one of our presets. Note that even if you choose "risky", LinkedIn's limits will still be respected.

Botdog vs SalesRobot: reliability

This is where SalesRobot's reviews tell a story worth reading carefully. Hidden amongst its positive reviews on AppSumo, Trustpilot, and G2, SalesRobot has an unfortunate track record. One reviewer titled their post "A Fall from Grace" and described frequent malfunctions, a lack of reliability, and a support team stuck in a loop of empty promises.

Screenshot 2026-03-10 at 15.50.20.png
https://appsumo.com/products/salesrobot/reviews/a-fall-from-grace-294740/?utm_source=reviewshare&utm_content=172109&utm_medium=share

SalesRobot also faced huge controversy in 2025 after it sold lifetime deals on AppSumo, which is a common tactic for SaaS tools looking to build an initial user base. When SalesRobot launched V2, lifetime deal customers found that the features they'd paid for no longer worked and were told they'd need to pay an additional fee to continue using the tool. It's worth noting that the way a company treats its first customers often speaks volumes about how much they respect their users.

Botdog users, on the other hand, consistently cite reliability as a core strength. G2 reviews describe setup as "effortless" and note that campaigns run consistently without requiring manual intervention. Customer support also regularly receives particularly high marks for responsiveness.

Botdog vs SalesRobot: AI features

SalesRobot's AI features are very impressive, and they're included across all tiers with no upgrade required. SalesRobot can use AI to generate personalized message snippets based on a prospect's LinkedIn profile, pulling in details like their job title, recent activity, or company news to make outreach feel less templated. It also includes AI-assisted reply suggestions to help you respond faster to conversations in the inbox, and you can even let AI reply on autopilot! For sales teams that want to do less heavy lifting, this is a huge advantage.

Screenshot 2026-03-10 at 16.34.56.png
SalesRobot's AI Appointment Setter Agent is a pretty impressive feature, although the warning is a little ominous!

Botdog takes a more selective approach to AI, so AI features are only available on the Professional + AI plan at $49/month annually ($99/month). On this tier, users gain access to smart AI lead filtering that automatically screens out prospects who don't match your criteria, plus AI-powered canned replies and snippets to speed up inbox management.

Screenshot 2026-03-10 at 16.36.47.png
Botdog's AI Lead Review feature is helpful if you're importing a list of people that might not all be in your ICP. Just tell Botdog your criteria, and it'll automatically filter out anyone who doesn't match, so you won't accidentally waste any connection requests or messages on them!

Botdog vs SalesRobot: pricing

SalesRobot is a multichannel (LinkedIn + Email) tool, but you need to choose your LinkedIn and Email subscriptions separately, which can be a little confusing. For LinkedIn automation, they offer four plans: $59/month for Basic (but this limits you to 1 campaign with daily quotas well below LinkedIn's limits), $79/month for Advanced (unlimited campaigns, A/B testing, webhooks), and $99/month for Professional (team management and full safety features). They also offer enterprise plans upon request, and annual billing can get you up to 35% off. If you want to use SalesRobot for email automation, it'll cost $15/month/email account, plus you'll need to choose how many email credits you want. Every customer gets 225 credits automatically (which lets you find up to 75 emails), but you'll need to pay $43+/month if you want more.

Screenshot 2026-03-10 at 16.40.43.png
SalesRobot's annual pricing plans in March 2026.

Botdog's pricing is simple and transparent. Our Starter plan is $35/month billed annually (or $69/month) and includes unlimited campaigns and all safety features from day one. Our Professional plan ($39/month annually or $79/month) adds API access, webhooks, and advanced sequences, and our Professional + AI plan ($49/month annually or $99/month) adds AI lead filtering and smart replies. For teams managing 10+ LinkedIn accounts, Botdog's volume pricing drops to $28-$39/month per account annually, and annual billing offers up to 50% off on all plans.

Screenshot 2026-03-10 at 16.45.24.png
Botdog's annual pricing plans in March 2026.

SalesRobot only offers unlimited campaigns, full safety features, and team management capabilities on its Professional plan, and Botdog only offers AI features on its Professional + AI plan, so the most accurate like-for-like comparison is between SalesRobot Professional and Botdog Professional + AI.

Both plans include unlimited campaigns, unlimited daily quotas (in line with LinkedIn's limits), AI features, webhook & API access, and voice notes in sequences. Price-wise, Botdog Professional + AI ($49/month annually) is a whopping 38% cheaper than SalesRobot Professional ($79/month annually), so you'll save $360/year by choosing Botdog over SalesRobot.

  • You want automation that protects your LinkedIn account: Botdog's automatically configured safety features remove human error from the equation.

  • You want AI-generated personalization on every plan: SalesRobot includes AI snippets across all tiers, whereas Botdog's AI features require the Pro + AI plan.

Final verdict

SalesRobot has a lot of great features - especially its built-in AI personalization and appointment setters. For salespeople who specifically need those and are comfortable with the setup complexity, it's a tool that's definitely worth evaluating. Just be aware that the historical reliability issues and AppSumo controversy might reflect how the tool performs under real-world conditions and how the company treats its customers.

Botdog trades some of SalesRobot's feature complexity for something we think is more valuable: trust. Safety limits are set automatically when you sign up, setup takes five minutes, and team collaboration is built in from day one. Oh, and Botdog Professional + AI is $360/year cheaper than SalesRobot's comparable Professional plan.
